Moxie Chat: Meet Deidre Woollard * Writer. Empath. Grace.

Today’s guest, Deidre Woollard, is here to share her fierce, fiery soultank filling wisdom.

UPDATE! Deidre has a new bio!!

Deidre Woollard is the editor of Millionacres, a Motley Fool company dedicated to helping people become smarter, happier, and richer through real estate investing. Her background in real estate began as part of the blogging team for AOL. She later worked at Move Inc. within Realtor.com’s communications team and handled marketing and communications at top residential real estate brokerages. Real estate investing is a family tradition and she comes from a long line of landlords, renovators, and contractors currently invested from Massachusetts to California. She has an MFA in Writing from Spalding University.

Deidre is the co-founder of Lion & Orb, a real estate public relations company. Previously she was part of the marketing team at realtor.com, publicist at Rodeo Realty, and head of communications for Partners Trust in Los Angeles.

To shake things up, I am adding in her Twitter Bio – don’t you love those? She describes herself with these 130 characters: Email addict, magazine aficionado, and word nerd focused on real estate and investing. RE editor at https://inside.com/real-estate

During our chat with talk about the power of empathy, PR and leveraging HARO… and she drops some serious wisdom around OWNING and BELIEVING your own story!

Are you ready to meet her? Let’s do this!

Moxie Chat Highlights:

1. How do you define SUCCESS?

Success is about delivering the goods. Success is when I help a client achieve their public relations goals. Success is when I write an article that makes someone think or inspires them or exposes them to something they wouldn’t have found otherwise.

2. Share the THREE WORDS that describe you BEST and why!

Writer — Writing is the primary way I’ve always communicated with the world
Empath — one of the reasons I like working with real estate agents is that I can connect with their energy and how hard they work to achieve their goals
Grace –(definitely not the physical kind, I’m clumsy) but a sense of moving with considered intention in life and work

3. What is the best advice you have ever received?

The leader of my MFA program, author Sena Jeter Naslund always said to her students that their competition wasn’t in the room with them, it was in the library. I believe we don’t compete against each other, we compete against a standard of excellence.

4. What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I had a side gig as an astrologer in my 20s and still believe in the birth chart as a way to gain insights into personal development

5. If you could go back 11 years – what would you tell yourself?

Be clear about your worth and what you bring to the table.

6. What is one habit you are trying to build?

Getting on the phone with people and not relying on email

7. How do you make a difference in your client’s lives?

I help agents better define what is special about them and their listings

8. What does MOXIE mean to you?

Moxie is having the confidence and spirit to step outside of what is traditionally expected.

9. What does a “perfect day” in your life look/feel like?

My perfect day would involve a mix of both solitude and togetherness. It would include a workout, a walk in nature, a great meal with friends and my husband and time to read and write.

10. What is your ONE WORD for the next 12 months? Why?

Confidence — I’m a warrior for clients but I’m learning to be a warrior for myself.

Listen in to hear her RAPID FIRE answers! :)
