This week’s affirmation is about serving others -generously and joyfully..
Are you ready? Repeat after me:
I am bursting with energy and overflowing with joy.
My light will illuminate and inspire others around me!
We’ve talked about this before and it’s important to mention again. If you are not feeling like you are bursting with energy or overflowing with joy – even after you say this out loud – that’s ok.
It important to be REAL and honest with yourself.
If you want more energy, here are 6 ways to give yourself a boost and fill your soultank with JOY:
1: Acqua. Agua. Voda. Ama. Eau. Wai. Mizu. Pi. Vann. Apa. Pape. Amanzi.
No matter the language – water is an excellent way to keep sluggishness away. The struggle with dehydration is REAL. It leaves you feeling drained and fatigued. If you’re feeling thirsty you’ve waited too long and are already dehydrated… Get ahead of your thirst and grab a glass of pure joy every few hours.
I take my water to 11 by adding in delicious flavors like: basil, rosemary, peppermint, cucumber, lemon, lime, fresh berries, watermelon… whatever is in the fridge or garden that looks yummy! I also add in sparkling water (I love my soda stream!) to give it an extra kick that helps wake up the taste buds, too! Serve yourself in a fun Kerr jar, a sassy stemmed glass, or whatever your smile-infusing, fave cup is… ooooooh!! Add in a fun straw (I love my custom, reusable glass straw created by local artisans! Check them out here. https://www.drinkingstraws.glass) and sip away!
What do you put in your water?
2: Cinnamon or Peppermint!
For some, a quick sniff of the sassy scented spice cinnamon reduces fatigue and adds a zing to their step. I love the taste of cinnamon in my coffee and brownies – alas, after a decade of working in cosmetics during the holidays and zhoozhing displays of The Scent Of Christmas by Aromatique(a heavy cinnamon scent) – I don’t enjoy sniffing it.
If you are not a cinnamon sniffing gal like me, peppermint is an excellent go to pick me up. I especially love to use it before business calls or stepping on stage.
If you add essential oils to your water – beware of drinking too much peppermint. If you suffer from heartburn due to GERD, drinking peppermint can actually relax the sphincter muscle which closes off the stomach from the esophagus. This can cause stomach acid to pour back into the esophagus and make heartburn or GERD worse. And THAT won’t put a spring in your step!
If you have a scent that boosts your energy – hit reply and share it with me!
3: Shake Your Booty… or at least get it vertical!
Exercise is a natural energy booster. Moving throughout the day, even if you can spare only 11 minutes at a time, will help elevate and moderate your energy levels.
Can’t get outside?
- Walk around the kitchen island when you’re on the phone. (Bonus: clarity and creativity abound when you walk and talk)
- Choose the bathroom farthest away from your office and take the stairs to get there.
- Grab a hairbrush, crank up your favorite tunes, and sing along while shaking your tooooooosh.
- Stand at your desk or move to the kitchen counter so you can stand at home! I use a ladder in my Fire Up! Studio and it has all sorts of options for standing and sitting – hooray!
4: Let the Sun power you up!
Yesssssss, Lioness! Get outside to stand in and soak up the sunshine. If the sun prefers to hide above the clouds like it does here in Seattle – pop a Vitamin D3, open the front door, and step outside for some fresh air.
They also have nifty lights that mimic the sun for those who fight SAD! Have you tried these?
5: Start your day with Yoga Sun Salutations.
Sun Salutations are a great way to energize your mind and body first thing in the morning. They improve blood circulation, purify your blood, strengthen the physical body, help remove energy blockages through intentional breathing.
Read more on them here.
6: Lean on your Lioness Pride!
You’ve heard it here and beyond – many times. Who you surround yourself with MATTERS.
When you choose to hang out with upbeat friends, their positive attitude and joy-filled energy are contagious.
If you choose to constantly surround yourself with negative people – you can expect a constant energy drain.
Yes, it is your choice.
Go forth and choose wisely, Lioness.
